Life Enhancing Advanced Program (LEAP)

A follow up to the LIFE program, participants are encouraged to return for four LEAP group sessions and delve deeper into the foundations, inspiring greater levels of self-care and self-awareness.

More

Facilitated by one of our InspireHealth physicians or health professionals, these sessions provide a forum to further explore the Foundations of Health and Healing introduced in the LIFE Program. Participating in these group sessions fortifies and inspires greater levels of self-care and self-awareness. There are four themed LEAP Sessions:

Mind
Learn how to use your mind to promote health. Participants will explore barriers such as external and internal stressors and become aware of thoughts, beliefs and attitudes that restrict our ability to care for ourselves. Participants will learn about the mind-body connection to help address fear, anxiety, guilt and other distressing emotions.

Spirit
Connecting with our own unique sense of spirit can help us transform our fears and worries and bring us a natural sense of peace, joy, gratitude and freedom. Participants will explore how spiritual connection supports health and allows us to move with more ease through the many cycles of life. Topics may include spirit, death and dying, aging, meaning and purpose, and tapping into our inner wisdom.

Body
Come home to your body. Deepen your relationship with your body and let go of excess stress by practicing listening to, and acting upon, the body’s messages. Learn the art of deep, relaxed breathing and take home a breathing practice that settles the mind and body. Share your exercise and sleeping routine inspirations and challenges. Leave with a renewed sense of connection with your body and motivation to care for your body in new and more significant ways.

Passion
Passion is in all of us. We may experience being disconnected from our passion but it is always awake and alive within us. In a dynamic group setting, we explore passion: what it is (and what it isn’t), how to connect with the ‘spark’ inside all of us and how to express ourselves more fully and authentically. Discover how connecting with our passion expands our horizons and helps us feel more alive!

Inspire Young Adults

Young adults with cancer (18-39 years), have been identified as a unique population, not only because of the distinct types of cancer being diagnosed but because of the lasting impact that a diagnosis at this age can have on quality of life and life expectancy, as well as the significant and unique concerns and events which tend to take place during this stage of life.

More

A diagnosis at this age may bring up concerns like premature confrontation with mortality; changes to physical appearance, body image, sexuality and fertility; increased dependence on parents for financial support; changes in education and employment opportunities and communication of a cancer diagnosis to their young children. Despite the unique set of concerns and challenges for young adults with cancer, there are very few practical support programs specific to this group in Canada.

InspireHealth Young Adults directed programs are offered on a regular basis include:

  • expressive art therapy, including vision boarding, wellness journals and the Artist’s Way program.
  • themed support groups, such as body image, fertility, sexuality, dating, and relationships, parenting, talking about cancer to their children, finances, return to work, will and legacy planning.

In addition to our other programs and classes offering:

  • cooking classes
  • stress reduction (meditation & healthy sleep practices)
  • physical activity (exercise, yoga, and nature-based activities)

Inspire Men

Many men in our Western culture are socialized to not express their feelings, to deal with issues in a “logical or rational” way, and to believe that being vulnerable is a weakness. It is common for some men to not only have difficulty sharing their feelings but to feel unsure as to what they are feeling. A diagnosis with Cancer as a patient or a supporter can create feelings of fear, confusion and hopelessness.

More

At InspireHealth we support our male clients by creating an environment that speaks to the issues using a male perspective. We work with you to create a plan that allows you to take control of our treatment plan and make small changes in your life that can have a significant impact upon your health and outcome.  In addition, a Men’s support group is held once a month at our Vancouver centre, please see the class schedule for more information.
