Online Classes & Programs Schedule

We are currently offering online programs, classes and consultations through Zoom, a secure video conferencing platform.

Click on a class to sign up

Sign-up for classes closes three hours before class start time or 3:30 pm for classes after 5 pm PDT

We kindly ask you to only register for those classes you know you can attend. As a non-profit, this will allow us to be more efficient with our limited resources.

MONDAY January 25

11:15 am – 12:15 pm
Monday Morning Mindfulness Meditation with Genevieve S.
Join us for this class of coming together in breath and mindful awareness. This guided class begins with intention-setting, followed by a body scan, breath and thought-watching practice, and ending with loving kindness.

1:30 – 2:30 pm
Restorative Yoga with Mariana G. *
This class moves through a series of slower yoga postures designed to progress the body and mind to a place of relaxation, rest, and gentle opening. Please have a pillow, blanket, chair, and two bath towels nearby.

2:45 – 3:30 pm
Aerobic Exercise Class with Jen M. *
This is an aerobic-based exercise class. Modifiable for all levels, this class will move through a series of movements designed to elevate heart rate and get the body moving.

*Please only sign up for one aerobics class. If you are unsure which class is best suited for your level, please request an appointment with an Exercise Therapist at InspireHealth. 

3:00 – 4:00 pm
Fireside Information Session
(Your first step with InspireHealth)

Join us to learn more about our programs and services and how you can access them. This session is open to people with a diagnosis of cancer and their support people.

3:45 – 4:30 pm
Beginner’s Chair-Based Aerobic Exercise Class with Jen M. *
This is an aerobic-based exercise class. Designed for beginners or those with increased fatigue or decreased stamina. This aerobic-based class will move through a series of movements designed to elevate heart rate and get the body moving from a chair.

*Please only sign up for one aerobics class. If you are unsure which class is best suited for your level, please request an appointment with an Exercise Therapist at InspireHealth. 

TUESDAY January 26

9:30 – 10:30 am
Group Strength & Stretch with Steph G. *
This class offers a combination of strength and aerobic movements designed to provide you with a full body workout. Modifiable for all levels. Please have a chair and wall close by. If you have water bottles or soup cans that can act as weights, those are great too!

11:30 am – 12:15 pm
Meditation with Dr. Janice Wright
During this time of uncertainty, we can practice soothing our own body, mind and heart. Join us for this class of coming together in breath and mindful awareness. This guided class begins with intention-setting, followed by a body scan, and ending with a breath and thought-watching practice.

5:30 – 7:00 pm
Self-Care Workshop for Support People with Dorothy H.
If this is your first Supporters workshop, or you have never filled out a consent form, please take a couple of minutes to complete and submit the Group Consent Form. We appreciate your attention to this. 

This workshop is for support people only. In it, you will explore ways to take care of yourself while you are taking care of others. Through a series of exercises and discussions, you will learn ways to strengthen your relationship with your own self-care practice as well as your relationship with the person you are supporting. It is open to the primary caregiver, loved ones, family members and friends of someone currently living with cancer. 

6:00 – 6:30 pm
GratiTuesday Gratitude Meditation with Genevieve S.
Join us for this gratitude meditation practice. Together, we will breathe and take a moment of pause to be grateful. Gratitude habits are sometimes difficult to form alone, so join us in community to end your day with an attitude of gratitude.

7:00 – 8:00 pm
Qigong for Sleep and Relaxation with John W. *
Qigong is a form of Traditional Chinese Medicine done as a standing movement practice. The focus is on wellness at the levels of mind, body, and spirit. This practice focuses on preparing the body for sleep through gentle movement and relaxation.

WEDNESDAY January 27

9:30 – 10:45 am
Chair Yoga with Sylvia S.*
Chair yoga makes this practice more accessible by avoiding getting down, to and up from the floor. The gentle, yet deep practice, works all parts and systems of the body while breath awareness calms and balances the body and mind. Some optional standing poses, using the chair for balance, help to improve strength and balance. Everyone moves within their own comfort level.

10:30 am – 12:30 pm
Inspired Conversations: Spirit & Well-Being with Genevieve & Fiona
Connecting with our own unique sense of spirit/soul/essence/life force can help transform fear and worry as well as bring us a sense of peace, joy, gratitude and freedom. In this workshop, we will explore how spiritual connection supports health and allows us to move with more ease through the many cycles of life. 

*Please have on hand: paper, pens and/or pencil crayons. Felt pens may be helpful but not necessary.

**Designed for those diagnosed with cancer and supporters too. We recommend you participate in this class in a private/quiet room and/or use headphones, when possible, to keep the conversation for your ears only.

1:30 – 2:45 pm
Gentle Yoga with Rachel M. *
Explore the connection between breath and movement while taking the time to relax and gently stretch the body. Move through seated, standing and balance postures, and finish with a restorative relaxation time.

7:00 – 8:00 pm
Yoga Nidra with Tanya R.
Unlike most yoga classes, this relaxing and restorative class incorporates almost no movement. Through a series of body relaxation, breathing and visualization exercises, Yoga Nidra can mimic the healing effects of a deep sleep.

THURSDAY January 28

9:30 – 10:30 am

This class offers a combination of strength and aerobic movements designed to provide you with a full body workout. Modifiable for all levels. Please have a chair and a wall close by. If you have water bottles or soup cans that can act as weights, those are great too!

1:30 – 3:00 pm
Nutrition Workshop: Mindful Eating with Julie T.
Come learn more about what mindful eating is, the benefits of mindful eating, and how to apply this practice to your life! We’ll discuss this topic together and have the opportunity to engage in a guided mindful eating experience.

7:00 – 7:45 pm

Beginner’s Strength & Stretch with Julie H. *
This class offers an introduction to strength training. Participants are led through a series of low impact, full body exercises and are encouraged to work at their own pace. Exercises will be performed both in a chair and at the wall.

11:00 am – 12:00 pm
Circuit-Style Group Strength & Stretch with Jen M. *
This class offers a combination of strength and aerobic movements designed to provide you with a full body workout. A faster paced class, though modifiable for all levels. Please have a chair and a wall close by. If you have water bottles or soup cans that can act as weights, those are great too.

 

*This Class Requires Pre- Consultation:
Safety is our primary consideration in all programming at InspireHealth. In order for us to ensure a safe environment in movement-based group classes, all patients attending an online exercise class must have had a consultation with an InspireHealth Exercise Therapist or attended a class in the last two months.

On Saturday, January 30th, InspireHealth Clinical Counsellor, Genevieve Stonebridge, will be conducting a mindfulness workshop @yacancercanada Young Adult Cancer Canada's (YACC) 2021 SURVIVOR CONFERENCE: CHILL. 
 
"Observe Not Obsess: Mindfully Exploring your Emotions" will explore how by building self-awareness, we can learn ways to communicate, self-soothe, and regulate our emotions. And, explore how to be with feelings in a mindful way.

There are many sources of ‘externally-created’ There are many sources of ‘externally-created’ stress in our lives, especially during these restrictive times. 

For example, our increased exposure to mass media can unconsciously sap our energy and have negative impacts on our lifestyle.

Fortunately, there are some simple solutions that we can use:

* Be discerning about what we choose to watch and read
* Read books and articles that celebrate human nature
* Remove ourselves from negative TV and social media imagery
* Spend socially distant/online time with those we enjoy

Let's be sure to watch for and minimize our external stressors. Most of us can be unaware of the degree to which we are affected by them.
