COVID-19 (Coronavirus): Update June 3rd, 2020

With the recent roll out of Phase 2 of BC’s Restart Plan, we wanted to provide some clarity in regards to InspireHealth’s clinical service offerings.  At this time, we are continuing to offer virtual clinical appointments, programs and classes.  Our physical centres remain closed for the moment.

Our top priority is keeping our patients and team safe while continuing to provide the very best supportive cancer care to our community.

We are taking a cautious approach as we serve and support those living with cancer and their loved ones, many of whom are more vulnerable and being cautious themselves.  In the words of Dr. Bonnie Henry, Chief Officer of Health for BC, “To keep COVID-19 at bay we need to stay slow and low, moving slowly with thoughtful consideration and keeping our curve flat.”

We are receiving grateful feedback on our virtual services and look forward to continuing to be there for our community online even when we are back to meeting with patients in person.  We will provide updates as things evolve.

Thank you for your participation with us.  We are committed to be here with and for you – always, and especially, during these uncertain times.

With these gloomy Winter days upon us and with the With these gloomy Winter days upon us and with the ongoing restrictions of staying indoors, we must do our best to reap the daily benefits of natural light.

But, we don't have to be outside to do it.

We can increase natural light where we spend the most time, whether it's at home or the workplace. Here are some things we can do to let the light shine in to our room or space:

* Use accent mirrors or shiny objects to bounce the light
* Remove the drapes, add sheers or keep the blinds pulled up
* Decorate with a white colour palette to reflect plenty of light
* Trim any shrubbery obstructing the windows
* Add light-coloured rugs to dark floors

Of course, we can always try to take some time to get outside if we can, even for a short moment.

'Hygge' is a Danish word defined as "a quality of 'Hygge' is a Danish word defined as "a quality of coziness and comfortable conviviality that engenders a feeling of contentment or well-being".

In other words, hygge is comfort in unplugging and enjoying the simple things in life. It acknowledges a feeling or moment of relaxation in the complete absence of stress.

It can be anything — a cup of tea on a Monday morning, lighting candles, reading a book or walking in nature.

“The true essence of hygge is the pursuit of everyday happiness and it’s basically like a hug, just without the physical touch.” — @meikwiking
