As we head towards winter and the days grow shorter, many of us feel the pull to slow down, to wrap ourselves into something comforting and warm, and to shift our focus inside. Some of us might feel like we are ‘nesting’ as we prepare our homes for the holidays: decorating, baking, humming Christmas carols as we go about our work, wrapping gifts, and making our homes ready to receive loved ones -or perhaps packing our suitcase to share with them elsewhere.
It can be a busy time of the year: while we feel the pull to slow down many of us are propelled into a whirlwind of activity. It can be a time of reflection, sometimes of bittersweet memories, of connecting with loved ones, and of missing the ones who are not present.
I am always in awe of the love I experience and witness all around me at this time of the year, sometimes in the most unexpected places and circumstances. In the middle of a throng of last-minute shoppers, someone will stop, smile, open a door and make way for us with a happy holiday wish. Or the people who get together to help make this time easier on those who do not have much, volunteering their time to cook or deliver gifts. So many miracles happen all around us, even though they may go unnoticed. It can feel as if the world’s heart becomes a little wider this time of the year. Between moments of stillness and chaos, underneath it all, is love. All around us… love is.
On behalf of InspireHealth patients, staff, Board of Directors, and volunteers, I would like to express my gratitude for the heart and love that each of you brings to the InspireHealth community.
Wishing you a healthy, passionate, and joyful holiday season and New Year.
With love,
Dr. Hal Gunn, MD CEO & Co-Founder InspireHealth
