InspireLIFE BC

Historically, cancer care in the rural and more remote parts of BC has faced challenges.  There are different reasons for these challenges, not the least of which is access to health services and treatment due to geographical limitations.  For some types of cancer, it is a contributor to lower survival rates, especially in the north as compared to the rest of the province.

Until now.

InspireHealth’s new initiative, InspireLIFE BC  - funded in part by the Ministry of Health – has been specifically designed to serve patients, families and communities in rural and remote parts of the province by improving access to integrative cancer care.  InspireLIFE BC will deliver our world-leading integrative cancer care to those people who might not otherwise have access.  These programs and services optimize recovery and survival, and actively engage patients to take charge of their own health.  By doing so, research has shown that these patients do better, live longer and have a better quality of life. 

An accessible integrative approach will decrease the risk of recurrence and increase survival rates.  Our goal is simple – to provide the best care possible for people living with cancer, no matter where they are in British Columbia.

By leveraging social-networking technologies, we are creating a different and interactive educational experience that will inspire positive behavioural change. To meet the need for greater access to this type of service, InspireHealth is developing online classes and inspiring content based on the latest research in integrative care.

InspireLIFE BC expands upon the success of InspireHealth’s existing programs to include further online educational resources and online personal network support through Tyze Personal Networks (www.tyze.com) .  The heart of the program remains the social-learning experience of our community-based LIFE Program, presented in person by InspireHealth doctors who travel to the individual communities.  Continued  support to patients remains available through our new online cancer recovery programming.

InspireLIFE BC officially launches in Terrace in February of 2012.
